Access staff members Chantal Gallant and Kathryn Rendell recently presented a poster at the 2017 Victims of Crime conference in Brisbane. The poster was based on the program ’99 Steps’, Access’ counselling and legal support service for CALD women affected by DFV which operates from The Access Gateway. A major theme focused on justice and advocacy approaches to victims of crime, including survivors of domestic and family violence. Powerful voices of survivors highlighted how justice processes can either empower or further victimise individuals, depending on the support they encounter on their journey. The 99 Steps poster provided a multicultural lens to the challenges faced by survivors seeking justice.
