Following her selection as the Queensland winner of the “For Purpose and Social Enterprise Award”, on Tuesday 21 November Access CEO Gail Ker OAM attended the Telstra Business Women’s Awards gala event in Melbourne as a national finalist in Australia’s longest running and most esteemed women's awards program.
Up against some exceptional competition, huge congratulations go to Gail’s colleague Violet Roumeliotis, CEO of Settlement Services International (SSI) in New South Wales - who won not only the national “For Purpose and Social Enterprise Award” category but the overall “Telstra Business Woman of the Year Award” as well! A great win for both Gail and Violet personally and the sector at large, the wins point to the exceptional and critical work being undertaken and delivered daily by not-for-profit settlement organisations
Gail has dedicated her life to championing the causes of refugees and migrants, and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, centring her three-decade long journey with Access on addressing disadvantage and social injustice, and cultivating community inclusiveness. We are exceptionally proud of Gail for her Queensland win and for making it to the national finals.
All award winners and finalists join a dynamic community of like-minded women helping to raise the profile of women in business.
