On April 18th, Access and Metro South Health were joined by Hon Dr. Steven Miles Minister for Health and Ambulance Services, Hon. Shannon Fentiman, Minister and Member for Waterford and program partners to launch the 3 new Logan Maternity and Child Health Hubs.
The Maternity and Child Health Hubs are an exciting extension of the midwifery group practice at Logan Hospital to support marginalised women’s access to, and engagement with, midwifery care. A named midwife will support women throughout their pregnancy and help them to build strong partnerships with their communities and established health services. Joining other health professionals at the Hubs, the midwives will provide high quality healthcare that is responsive to, as well as sensitive and accepting of, cultural needs and preferences. They aim to improve health outcomes for Logan mothers and give their newborn children the best start in life.
The Maternity and Child Health Hubs have now been established at the Access Gateway, Jajumbora ATSICHS and The Browns Plains Early Years Centre. We look forward to sharing the outcomes of this great initiative!
