With bushfires continuing to burn across South-East Qld, our firefighters on the frontline are still working tirelessly every day across many regions. Thanks to the generosity of our local and diverse community, many firefighters are receiving much needed donations of fruit, bottled water and energy drinks to keep them going.
Nash Dosanjh, who regularly participates in Access’ Community Leaders Forums, also plays an active role in his Sikh community here in Qld, and is leading this fundraising initiative with the help of his generous Sikh community, the Taxi association, and the general public.
Nash and his volunteers have already delivered hundreds of boxes of donated goods via the Salvation Army, and directly to firefighters as far out as Boonah, Riverview, Rathdowney and Esk where the goods have been very gratefully received.
“The firefighters we have met have been very thankful and can’t believe how generous people have been with the amount of items donated to them”. Said Nash.
Nash and the community continue to fundraise through the charity Khalsa Assist to help the heroic men and women who are serving to protect our community, as well as the many people who are affected by these unprecedented fires.
“We will supply water, food and food vouchers to the community and the emergency services personnel as well as anything else they ask us to provide, and can deliver quickly.” Said Nash.
