Australians have started receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.
There are naturally many questions surrounding the vaccine and its rollout, particularly amongst our CALD communities.
To help answer these questions and ease some of these concerns, Access, together with key multicultural organisations in Queensland*, teamed up with Queensland’s Chief Health Officer, Dr Jeanette Young, to hold an information session on the vaccine rollout for our Community Leaders.
Dr Young also congratulated Queensland’s multicultural leaders for their assistance in disseminating crucial information around COVID-19, which contributed to the fact that no culturally or linguistically diverse group in Queensland has suffered from a significant outbreak of the virus.
The Australian Department of Health has also developed in-language resources explaining the vaccine’s development and testing, how it works against the virus and when and how you will receive it, which you can view on its website.
For information on the vaccine in your native language, visit here. If you are a community leader, visit this page for shareable resources for your community, including videos, fact-sheets and more.
*Organisations involved in this information session included Multicultural Australia, Queensland Program of Assistance to Survivors of Torture and Trauma, Queensland African Communities Council, Australian Red Cross, Refugee Health Network Queensland, Mater and Queensland Health.
