BEMAC is extremely proud to announce our partnership with Brisbane City Council in hosting two World Music Cafés at the South Bank Cultural Forecourt as part of Festival 2018 Brisbane.
Held across 12 days in April, from 4-15 April, Festival 2018 is the multi-arts festival complementing the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games' (GC2018) sports program. Held in various locations throughout Brisbane, Cairns, Townsville and Host City Gold Coast, Festival 2018 will feature a mix of theatrical productions, world class musicians, dance, physical theatre, visual art and Indigenous arts practice.
Taking place from 10am-12pm, on April 8 and 15, the BEMAC World Music Café concerts will feature BEMAC artists representing Commonwealth countries including Kiribati, New Zealand, India, Trinidad and Tobago, Ghana and Kenya, as well as a special performance by local world music favorites Tibet2Timbuk2.
BEMAC Director Evan Alexander said the organisation was thrilled to be involved in the curation of cultural performances and events for the largest sporting event to be staged in Australia this decade.
“We’re extremely proud to be providing world class entertainment for a number of events in and around GC2018 including providing entertainment for the Queen’s Baton Relay and the World Music Café as part of Festival 2018 Brisbane,” he said.
